headcleaner and urban exploration tracks on new dead channel compilation

8 10 2012

Haikyo is the new compilation on dead channel records put together by micoland (also aka conflux) who i work with on on the urban exploration project. this release revolves around the idea of urban exploration and is a mix of live urban exploration sets and studio tunes by the members, giving an idea of where urban exploration comes from and how many parts make something very different in a whole.

Headcleaner track on jehm records compilation

6 08 2012

“they call it acid” – my unsurprisingly acid workout tune features on jehm records’ new compilation, showcasing a variety of artists and where they’re going with the label. great to get this tune out there, its been burning a hole in my musical pocket since i wrote it a year ago and also good to offset against what i was doing previously in ‘select archive’.

Modularis 2 !

2 08 2012

next installment of modularis – modular synth meet up and gig showcasing some great and varied use of modular equipment…
lev kowalczwk coming over from ireland and bringing field processing to modularis for the first time – a great way to lead into urban exploration, also using field recordings cut into loops and journeying through into techno and experimental beats where tIB takes the reigns leading up into silent running’s experimental techno>>>

same great venue – full circle – with improved setup space, hearty and well priced food and drinks all day, free car parking on site.

come an check out whats happening synth-wise an meet like minded folk!!

Ragged Kingdom closing party

24 07 2012

great video here from conflux (micolands video output) of 4 hour epic collaborative ambient set at templeworks for the closing of Jamie Reids   Ragged Kingdom exhibition – i cant believe he managed to sort this while playing ….

alot of footage was taken by other folk, and so there will eventually be a more protracted version involving the other elements not seen here. it does give a feel of how immensly epic the night was and just how great jenny’s voice is!

worlds largest live echo chamber?

20 07 2012

this video was taken as we were setting up for Urban Exploration at Jamie Reids closing party for the ragged kingdom exhibition @ Temple Works. the room is 80,000 sq ft and when it was built in 1840 was the largest room in the world. it has fallen into disrepair to the point where nobody is allowed access to the room.

we put a speaker in the room and fired sounds across it, the echo coming back through the open doorway into the concert room making it possibly the worlds largest live use echo chamber…..

further footage of the gig to follow……..

‘select archive’ released

16 07 2012

many thanks to oli at www.jehmrecords.com – ‘select archive’ is a collection of tracks from back when i had a monomachine and a machinedrum and therefore the ability to write tunes in a normal structured fashion! i have a pile of unreleased tunes from then and this seemed a great opportunity to get some of these out there on a free release.

‘select archive’ is then oli’s pick of those tracks that i havent had earmarked already, remastered and available at his fledgling netlabel alongside some great mixes and albums, all downloadable for free.

urban exploration update

27 04 2012

we’re in the midst of a bunch of ambient gigs now (first last night, at a comedy showcase oddly enough) and the format is really coming together. myself, naff dog, dot 9 and micoland have been working at the soundscape/ambient sets for the past few weeks, and tweaking the massive pile of equipment to get the best sound from it.

we’ve taken some extracts from these 2-3hr long jams, a couple have been put up and we will be putting more up and swopping round over time onto the urban exploration pages:

urban exploration – soundcloud

urban exploration -  facebook

permanent links ill put in my links section—

if the kids records have already released some techno tracks that were done partially off the back of ambient works and the idea currently is to do a concept ep , half  ambient jams and half beat driven tracks created out of those jams. we are currently a little stumped in this as we need an 8 channel soundcard to record all the parts seperately in order to best be able to remix the jams, as usual though, moneys too tight to mention.

however as the pure live jams are doing so well we’re also planning a whole soundscape album, something im particularly excited about, and theres talk of film rescores also… big times for ambience
